Workshop W/ Master Percussionist Eddie Bobé

The First workshop
for Intermediate/Advanced students


Master Percussionist Eddie Bobé will be giving a workshop focusing on the conga drums and Afro-Latin percussion. Mr. Bobé will share different concepts of latin drumming, and his unique perspective and view of the Caribbean percussive arts. The workshop will be tailored to the needs of the participants and will serve to deepen ones understanding of conga drumming and the clave. Through this limited opportunity workshop, Mr. Bobé’s unique perspectives and understanding of drumming will be sure to take your drumming to another level.

About the instructor:

Mr. Bobé is a repository and wealth of knowledge and a master percussionist in the Cuban, Haitian and Puerto Rican Folklore traditions. His 40 years of experience as a performer and insider in the field of latin drumming gives him a unique perspective and understanding. His work as a pioneer of the central park rumba scene in NY culminated in the release of the critically acclaimed CD “Central Park Rumba” which received 4 stars in Downbeat. Through the years Eddie Bobè taught at Julliard, New York Drummer’s Collective, the Boys Harbor Music School, Johnny Colón School of Music, the Third Street Music School, and the New School for Social Research, the Brooklyn conservatory of Music. He has performed and recorded with Eddie Palmieri, Paquito D'Rivera, Ismael Quintana Ismael Rivera, Bob James, Phillip Glass, Art Pepper, Chico O'Farrill, Peter Erskin, and many others.

This is a limited opportunity learning experience. Students will be selected and the workshop will be limited to 6 students. The format will include lecture, demonstration, listening and participation.
